Meet Your Denver, Englewood, Thornton CO Pediatric Dentist
Dr. A Patrick Smithwick III, or Dr. Paddy Smithwick as the patients call him, is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and reached attending status at Children’s Hospital of Colorado. After graduating from Hobart College, Dr. Paddy Smithwick was trained at the University of Maryland College of Dental Surgery (fun fact: it was the first dental school in the nation) where he placed in the top five percent on the National Dental Board Exam.
He continued his specialty training in pediatric dentistry for an additional two years at New York University and the world-renowned Bellevue Hospital where he was trained in growth and development, orthodontics, hospital dentistry, sedation and general anesthesia. Dr. Paddy also trained at the RFK Center for the treatment of children with developmental disabilities and the Hassenfeld Center of Hematology and Oncology. While in New York, he was an integral part of the cranial facial/cleft lip and palate team at the NYU Medical Center. Phew! That was a lot of schooling!
After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, he became the lead pediatric dentist and partner of a multi-specialty, multi-location group practice. While he loved his time in Atlanta, after four years, Dr. Paddy Smithwick decided it was time to move to his dream city of Denver, Colorado, where he could fulfill his love of the outdoors and extreme skiing – don’t worry, he wears a mouthguard.
Dr. Paddy has been in private practice in Colorado since 2012. He is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Colorado Dental Association (CDA), the Metro Denver Dental Society (MDDS), the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and the Colorado Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (CAPD).
Dr. Paddy’s mission is to give your child the absolute best dental care using the most up-to-date techniques and modern equipment. He strives to get to know each patient as an individual with his or her own interests and habits. He’s also dedicated to making going to the dentist a fun, positive experience, which why there’s always something going on in the office, whether Dr. Paddy is rocking his Santa Claus or Superman onesies, enforcing a Denver Bronco’s jersey dress code before a big game or having the whole staff wear ugly Christmas sweaters. And, of course, keep an eye out for Dr. Paddy’s trademark crazy socks. A haberdasher himself, Bubbs, the office mascot, likes dressing up in his seasonal outfits as well.
